Routing (1 night Nairobi, 1 night Lake Nakuru, 2 nights Masai Mara, 2 Nights Serengeti, 2 nights Ngorongoro, 1 night Manyara, 1 night Amboseli – Departure)

 

Day 1: Arrival, meet and greet – Nairobi
Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be met by our airport representative. Our rep will take you through a brief pre-safari orientation before embarking on your dream safari adventure of  Kenya. You will be transferred to a city hotel for an overnight: Overnight: Boulevard Hotel- www.sentrim-hotels.com or similar – booked on bed and breakfast

 

Day 2: Nairobi- Lake Nakuru National Park
Picked from your Nairobi Hotel after breakfast depart driving through the Kikuyu Tribesmen (largest single tribe in Kenya) country then descend into the Great Rift Valley with the stunning views of the escarpment and dormant volcanoes where Lake Nakuru is located.  Arrive in time for lunch and short rest. L. Nakuru is a shallow soda lake, renowned for its huge concentration of flamingos. It is also a Rhino sanctuary.You embark on a game drive which includes a walk on the shores of the lake to view flamingoes from close range. Keep your eyes open for the elusive Leopard or the Tree climbing lions of this park. The afternoon game drive is included and you will return to your lodge as the sun sets! Dinner and overnight – Lake Nakuru Flamingo lodge (B,L,D) Distance: Approx. 175 kms – 2 hrs drive.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, you will climb the Western Escarpment of the Rift Valley and head towards Masai Mara.  With its vast open plains and distinctive flat-topped acacia trees, no visit to Kenya would be complete without a visit here. Enjoying views of  the picturesque Masai tribesmen herding cattle on the way, you arrive in time for lunch and a well deserved rest! Afternoon game drive includes searching for the Big Five, elephants, Buffalos, lions, Rhinos and leopards, before returning to your lodge as the sun sets! Dinner and overnight – Olmoran Tented Camp or similar (B,L,D).  Distance Approx. 280 kms – 5 hrs drive  Poor road network- Half of the way roads are in poor state and  with potholes and it may take more time than the estimated.

 

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve
With packed lunch/picnic boxes, depart after breakfast and proceed on for a full day game drive including visits to Mara River, Kenya Tanzania Border Post and a great chance to view the “Big Five”. Enjoy the Great Migration if lucky! You will have lunch at Hippo Pool. Return to your
lodge late in the afternoon. Dinner and Overnight – Olmoran Tented Camp (B,L,D).

Day 5:   Masai Mara- Serengeti National Park (Tanzania)
This morning leave Masai Mara with picnic lunch boxes and drive North West to the border post known as Isibania where you will change vehicles and drivers as well. Enter Tanzania and proceed with the stunning views of country side. Along the way enjoy your picnic lunch.   Continue your drive across the treeless plains of Serengeti and be prepared for a few bumps and bounces along this unpaved road to the famous Serengeti. There are plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing en route to your lodge.  An afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park introduces you to one of  Africa’s premier game sanctuaries. Dinner and Overnight: Ikoma Tented Camp B,L,D. Distance Approx: 350 kms 7 hrs drive

Day 6:  Serengeti National Park
Serengeti is unique as its name, with plains, rivers and rocky outcroppings known as ‘Kopjes’ all have resident populations of wildlife and panoramas are breathtaking.  You will explore this park with morning and afternoon game drives in search of large predators and the gentle herbivores which they depend on for survival.  Dinner and Overnight: Ikoma Tented Camp

Day 7:  Serengeti National Park-  Ngorongoro Conservation  Area Park
This morning drive via Olduvai Gorge. The history of mankind is explored on a visit here, where in 1959, famed archeologists Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of the earliest known man, believed to be about 1.8 millions years old.    Dinner and Overnight: Country Inn Lodge  . Distance Approx. 195km – 4hrs

Day 8:  Ngorongoro Conservation Area Park
Depart with packed picnic lunch boxes for full day Crater game drive in the Park, returning the lodge later in the afternoon. Ngorongoro crater is at the depth of 2,000 feet, this is caldera, created by the collapse of an extinct volcano, contains what might be called “LOST WORLD” of wildlife and in co-existence of cattle herding Masai. Dinner and Overnight: Country Inn Lodge  B, L, D

Day  9:  Ngorongoro Conservation Area –  Lake Manyara
After an early breakfast, we depart and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a morning game drive. Lake Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake at the base of a sheer stretch of the western Rift Valley escarpment. The north-western area of this lake is protected in a 330 square kilometre, which contains a remarkable diversity of terrestrial habitats: the grassy floodplain of the lakeshore, the rocky base of the escarpment, a belt of thick acacia woodland and a lush patch of groundwater forest just inside the northern entrance gate. An interesting bio-diversity of fauna and flora can be observed here as well as a variety of large mammal species including elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe and lion. Perhaps, however, the most immediately visible residents are the troupes of olive baboon, sometimes found in the company of the smaller and rather beautiful blue monkey. This is also a wonderful location for viewing groups of elephants and, for keen birders, Manyara has recorded almost 400 species due to the wide habitat diversity. Lunch and afternoon game drive are included.  Dinner and Overnight  Jambo Lodge Manyara. Distance Approx. 60km, 2hrs drive

Day 10: –  Amboseli National Park
After an early morning Breakfast, check out and transfer to Kenyan/Tanzania border Namanga where you will change vehicles and bid farewell to your Tanzanian Guide. Proceed to Amboseli National Park, arriving in good time for lunch at the Lodge. This afternoon game drive is included. A game drive through Amboseli takes you across this vast lakebed – often dry, but still very swampy in some areas.  Amboseli is best known for its great herds of elephant – you will often find many of them standing knee-deep in the water, spraying themselves to keep cool.  But
there is a lot of other game here too – cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, many types of gazelle and other plains game- and it is all set against the amazing backdrop of majestic  Mount Kilimanjaro showing all its glory. Dinner and Overnight: Amboseli Sentrim Tented Lodge BLD –

Day 11:  Amboseli National Park- Nairobi – Departure
Pre- Breakfast early morning game. Return for breakfast and rest of the morning at leisure. You will depart after  early lunch and transfer to Nairobi arriving in time for Dinner at the famed Carnivore Restaurant.www.tamarind.co.ke . After dinner you will be transferred to airport for your outbound departure flight.  Distance: Approx: 260 kms – 4 hrs drive B, L,D.
