2 DAY SEZIBWA MABIRA RIVER NILE SOURCE SIPI FALLS TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Jinja/ Kampala Or Entebbe – Drive To Sezibwa Falls, Mabira Rainforest & Source Of The Nile In Jinja
0600 Hours: We enjoy breakfast at out hotel in Kampala then depart by road at 0700 driving eastwards on the Kampala – Jinja highway.
Our first stop on the tour will be at Sezibwa Falls – a Buganda Cultural Heritage Site that is found in Mukono District. It is situated only 20 miles on the Kampala – Jinja Highway
Once at the site our local guide takes us on a 1 hour hike which includes a visit to the crystal-clear waterfalls. The grounds are very serene and cool with lots of birds, monkeys and butterflies.
A visit to a shrine is also included which has traditional worship items which were used by the Buganda. The local guide will give us the history about the Sezibwa.
After the tour of Sezibwa, we depart for a short 20 minutes drive to Mabira rainforest. Here we enjoy a 2 hour forest trek. Mabira is the largest forest in central Uganda spanning 306 square kilometers.
It supports plenty of life including 312 species of trees and shrubs, of some have been found to be unique to the forest.
There are over 316 species of birds, 219 moths and 35 species of small animals such as Duikers, Bushbuck, Squirrels, Red-tailed Monkeys, and Grey-cheeked Mangabeys.
After visiting Mabira we drive to Jinja town for lunch. Thereafter transfer to the Nile for a one hour boat ride to the Source of the Nile and Lake Victoria.
We explore the beautiful sights across the lake and the adjacent peninsula, and also see plenty of water birds such as Herons, Pelicans, Kingfishers, Egrets and more.
Later we drive to Mbale town, arriving in the evening. Check in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mbale Town – Drive To Sipi Falls – Hike – Drive To Kampala
0800 Hours: After breakfast, we drive for an hour to Sipi Falls and with a local guide, start off the hike to the three waterfalls. You follow a trail 7 to 8 km’s long that goes through local communities and their farms with tea and banana plantations.
Between visiting each waterfall you are treated to breathtaking landscape scenery, from the green slopes of Mountain Elgon to the distant flat plains of Karamoja in the distance.
Each waterfall offers an experience different from another, from the plunge, beautiful views, caves, to rainbows. The entire hike takes 3 to 4 hours.
You will visit the first waterfall from the top and descending down to the second and finally to the third at the end of the trail which is the biggest and main one. It is has a large whirlpool which you can dive in for a swim in the cold water.
At the end of the trek, you will have lunch in Sipi and later travel back to Kampala arriving in the evening.
