This 3 Days 2 Nights Lake Mburo National Park Uganda Safari classic safari takes you to explore Lake Mburo National Park – located in Kiruhura District in western Uganda.

The park is situated about 30 km (19 miles), by road, east of Mbarara, the largest city in the sub-region and it’s a 3 to 4 hours drive (240 km) from Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive To Lake Mburo National Park

0700 Hours: We depart at our Hotel in Kampala at after breakfast by road to Lake Mburo National park. The drive takes about 4 hours.

Along the way make a brief stop at the Equator to enjoy watching a scientific experiment which proofs that you are on the equator. Later have some snacks, drinks, or buy some curios before proceeding to Lake Mburo.

1200 Hours: Upon arrival at the park, check-in your accommodations and relax before lunch. Later proceed for the afternoon game drive. Lake Mburo is a small but a nice and interesting park.

It is the only park in Uganda with Impalas! The park also has notable residents for example leopards, hyenas, elands, buffalos, giraffes, topi, and antelopes among others. In the park, you will also encounter more than 300 bird species.

1830 Hours: Later in the evening return back to your accommodations.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Boat Trip

0800 Hours: After an early morning breakfast, explore the park with a game drive in search of animals like:  zebras, impalas, topis, buffalos, elands.

Bird watching opportunities are excellent here, with about 313 bird species recorded here including the rare shoebill stork, White-winged Warbler, Crested Francolin among others.

Alternatively take a nature walk. Return to the lodge for lunch. After a sumptuous lunch proceed for an afternoon boat-ride.

Lake Mburo boat ride offer you a chance to spot water animals like; crocodiles, hippopotamus and water birds including; fish eagles, pelicans, black crake, heron, cormorant, and the rare shoebill stork.

1830 Hours: Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Mburo – Drive To Kampala

0600 Hours: enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee or hot chocolate then proceed for any one of the many activities available in the park. These include cycling or biking or a nature walk.

0900 Hours: Return for a full English sit down breakfast then after depart by road for Kampala. You will have lunch along the way either in Masaka or at the Uganda Equator.

1800 Hours: Arrive in Kampala late afternoon. Our driver will drop you off at your hotel/ residence. This marks the end of your 3 Days 2 Nights Lake Mburo National Park Uganda Safari.

Game drives: The game drives through the park will allow you see many of the animal species as well as birds. This park is the only
in Uganda where you will see Impalas. Other animals include Eland, giraffes, Zebras, lions, bush babies, porcupines etc.

 Boat Cruise: This boat cruise will get you to come face to face with the flora and fauna of the lake. And along the bank, you will
see hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, buffaloes and birds like kingfishers, eagles, weavers, starlings, pelicans as well as the cormorants

 Birding Watching: Lake Mburo National park is also one of the best birding spots in Uganda with over 135 bird species and some
of these include; Barbets, Lovebirds, Doves, Turacos, Parrots, Cranes and many more.

 Cultural experience: These include traditional cattle watering adventure, tree planting, Igongo cultural museum, Rwabarata
Drama group traditional dances, Rubale fishing community and bee keeping tours

 Fishing Trips: Lake Mburo has around 6 species of fish with Tilapia being the most common one. The most fishing spot is at Mazinga.

fishing permits for them

Horseback Riding safaris: Lake Mburo is the only park in the country where one can carry out a game drive from the back of
the horse and also is one of the best way of viewing the wildlife that are found in the park. These tours can also last between 1 to

 Nature walks: In the company of a ranger guide on foot,  you will visit a salt lick where many animals frequent daily. The full
day begins with a hike to the salt lick, then a walk to the top of the hill where you will be able to view the 9 of the great region lakes,

Visit the Equator: The drive to Lake Mburo, includes a stopover at the Equator; (the equator runs through Uganda). You will

 Lake Mburo Bicycle Tours: These are well guided bike rides which are from 1 hour to as long as you like. You will ride among
the   zebras, antelopes, buffaloes within the flat areas of the national park.
