4 Day Lake Mburo Safari Bwindi Forest Gorilla Trekking Tour from the Uganda Safaris packages is a wildlife adventure that focuses on close animal encounters and dramatic wildlife sightings in two great Ugandan parks.
Lake Mburo National Park offers exciting wildlife game viewing both in vehicles and on boat rides while a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for close encounters with the mountain gorillas in its forests.
Our 4 Day Lake Mburo Safari Bwindi Forest Gorilla Trekking Tour begins with a visit to Lake Mburo National Park known for sculptured landscape with rolling grassy hills and its idyllic lake shores with a variety of different species of mammals and birds.
Lake Mburo is home to350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.
After Lake Mburo, we proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park known as the home of endangered Mountain Gorillas, the most awe-inspiring primates to be found in Africa.
A full day is set aside for you to trek for the mountain gorillas in the forest. The search for these majestic animals goes through thick untamed rainforest, where you’ll be scrambling over mossy rocks and through deep undergrowth.
However, when you come face to face with the gorillas, the trek will be more than worth it, and watching gorillas in their natural habitat is a memorable experience.
Other primates that can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in addition to the mountain Gorillas include red tailed and blue monkey, L’Hoest’s, chimpanzee, black and white colobus, and baboons.
4 DAY LAKE MBURO SAFARI BWINDI FOREST GORILLA TREKKING TOUR DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Kampala – Drive To Lake Mburo National Park
0800 Hours: After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, depart by road in a customized 4×4 safari vehicle and head south-west towards Lake Mburo National Park.
1030 Hours: Brief stop at the Equator – a great opportunity to have your photo taken in both hemispheres! Tea/ coffee break + bathroom facilities.
1300 Hours: Arrive at your lodge/ camp in time for lunch and later have some relaxation time.
1530 Hours: After lunch take a boat trip on Lake Mburo looking for crocodiles, hippo etc and water birds such as pelicans, herons, fish eagles and the rare Shoebill stork.
During your safari game drive in Lake Mburo expect to see zebra, eland, buffaloes, impalas, roam antelope, leopard, hyena, bush buck and klipspringer.
1830 Hours: Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Mburo Game Viewing – Drive To Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
0700 Hours: After an early breakfast at the lodge or camp we depart for a 3 hour safari game drive. Animals that may be seen include zebra, waterbuck, buffalo, topi, eland, leopard and a variety of bird species.
1100 Hours: We exit Lake Mburo National Park and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with a lunch break en route (in Mbarara). Estimated driving time is 6 hours.
1800 Hours: Arrive at Bwindi late in the evening followed by check-in, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable Forests (Gorilla Tracking)
0630 Hours: Have an early morning breakfast and then head to the gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for guests.
This Park is best known for the fascinating gorillas, where the time taken to find them and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates.
The entire experience may take anything from 2 to 8 hours. The thrill of spending time and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and also an exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience.
The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact with each other.
In the evening, have a cultural walk and interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups.
Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.
Optional Extra: If your gorilla trekking experience is short enough, it may be possible to add on a waterfall hike – this may take anything from 2 to 5 hours depending on how much you stop along the way.
Take a plunge into the bottom of the icy waterfall if you are brave enough! (Additional Cost).

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forests – Drive To Kampala
0600 Hours: Rise early and take a packed breakfast box and drive back to Kampala. A lunch break will be taken along the way. You may also wish to make a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers.
Here you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. Another optional stop will be at the equator for photographs.
1800 Hours: Depending on traffic, you should be back in Kampala just before nightfall.
