Day 1: Kampala –Drive To Murchison Falls National Park

After a hearty breakfast at our hotel in Kampala/ Entebbe the Safari departs driving through the famous Luwero triangle. A stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary enables you to have a brief tour of this Rhino restoration project.
Following the extinction of Uganda’s Rhino in the early 1980s during the period of civil unrest and heavy poaching, a sanctuary established to breed black and white rhino, and restore rhino populations in Uganda’s protected areas.

Have another stopover in Masindi for Lunch. After lunch, we head to Murchison, set at the top of the Murchison Falls with panoramic views of the Nile.

At the falls, the river plummets 45 meters into the gorge below! We admire the Nile River as it squeezes through a seven meter canyon at the roaring falls, forming rainbows in the misty spray above.

Later we retire to comfort and service of our accommodations.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park Game Drive And Boat Cruise

After breakfast we take a game drive on the northern part of the park. Animals likely to see include elephant, buffalo, bushbuck, lion, leopard, giraffe, hartebeest and a variety of birds.
After lunch we embark on a boat cruise on the calm waters of the Victoria Nile. Along the way we keep an eye out for wallowing hippos and crocodiles from our boat.

We may also sight other wild animals as we go, including elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile found along this 17 km stretch of river.

This riverine area also hosts numerous bird species, from the Goliath heron, Egyptian goose and pelican bee-eater, to the kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and rare shoebill stork.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls – Drive To Kibale Forest National Park

Today is spent driving south to Fort Portal via Hoima. We pass through the lush countryside of farms and traditional homesteads on the Albertine Rift escarpment.

Fort-Portal is located at the base of the mystic Mountains of the Moon in Uganda. Meals and overnight at a beautifully located lodge overlooking the dramatic Crater Lake and the fabled Mountains of the Moon.

Day 4: Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Queen Elizabeth National To Bwindi – Uganda

After breakfast we move into the Forest, for primate viewing but before the activity starts you will be briefed by a park ranger.

The activity starts early in the morning at 0800 hours. A half day search for chimps and monkeys including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blue, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the impenetrable forest.

You will also see varieties of birds, butterflies and many small insects. The ranger will provide detailed explanations on not only the primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable.

In the afternoon we travel south to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking in the sights and looking out for game as we drive.

Our next destination is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered African Mountain Gorillas, along with a rich diversity of wild animals and plants.

Inhabitants include various other primate species, such as the blue and red tailed monkeys.

Day 5: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Cultural Entertainment

After an early morning breakfast and guide briefing, set off for your gorilla tracking in the forests of Bwindi. Gorilla tracking can be strenuous because of Bwindi’s challenging terrain.

You will need to carry packed lunch and drinking water, and wear comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, as well as carry a light rain jacket as Bwindi has unpredictable weather. Walking sticks will be available from the park rangers.

A friendly encounter with these gentle giants will be your most exciting experience! For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.

The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants. After an encounter of a group of gorillas some with silver backs, one can say “a sight of Gorillas has made my life time tour”.

In the evening, you will have a cultural walk to interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups.

Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.

Day 6: Bwindi Forest  – Drive To Kampala Or Entebbe

We enjoy an early breakfast on day six and then return to Kampala, visiting Igongo Cultural village en route.
Here we learn about the Bahima and Ankole cultures of Uganda, glimpsing the history of these interesting people.We cross the Equator, stopping to take photographs and to have lunch along the way.

We arrive back in Kampala (or Entebbe on request) in time to catch evening flights, bringing this 6 day Uganda Safari Adventure to a close.
