Lake Nakuru National Park – renowned as a bird sanctuary with over 400 bird species, including huge flocks of flamingoes and many other water birds. It is an excellent park for wildlife spotting and is home to many water-loving animals such as hippos and waterbucks.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive To Lake Nakuru National Park

Depart Nairobi at with picnic lunch boxes for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stopover at the Rift Valley view-point for a morning view of the Majestic Mt. Longonot and the breath-taking view of the Rift Valley.

Arrive in Lake Nakuru National Park and proceed directly on a game-drive. Enjoy your picnic lunch at the Baboon cliff View-point. After lunch proceed on another game drive. Lake Nakuru bird life is world-renowned and offers over 400 species of both aquatic and terrestrial bird.

Lake Nakuru animals include: Black and White Rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild’s giraffe, White and Black Colobus monkey, eland, steenbok, impala, Chandlers Reed buck, dik dik, rock hyrax, klipspringer, hippo and clawless otter.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Drive To Mount Elgon

After breakfast proceed to Mount Elgon. Arrival into Kitale Town in time for lunch. After lunch proceed to Mount Elgon National Park for a game drive.

On the game drive you have an opportunity to see over 400 elephants plus buffalo, leopards, the colobus and blue monkeys (a protected species), hogs, waterbucks and various species of antelope.

The park is also home to at least 240 different species of birds, including the cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Hartlaub’s turaco and redheaded parrot.

Day 3: Explore Mount Elgon

You will visit mount Elgon park which has many cliffs, caves, waterfalls, gorges, hot springs and, of course, some amazing mountain peaks for visitors to enjoy, in addition to the wildlife. Mount Elgon offers excellent climbing and walking adventures.

There are  three nature trails that lead to both the caves and Elephant Bluff. You will also find breathtaking views of the park from Endebass Bluff.

Mountain climbing or trekking is very popular in Mount Elgon National Park. For those who want to  visit to the peak of Mount Elgon, which sits at 4,155 meters above sea level, climbing can be accomplished in 2 to 3 hours depending on one’s pace.

Day 4: Mount Elgon – Drive To Kakamega Forest

After breakfast, depart for Lake Victoria. On your way you will visit Kakamega Rain Forest. This is the only remaining rainforest after the Congo Forest.

Over 30 varieties of snakes including the deadly gaboon viper, Jamesons mamba and black mamba are found here among other animals. Monkeys and some rare birds are found here. Great and very old indigenous trees, some are hundreds of years old.

Day 5: Explore Lake Victoria

Enjoy the day at the Lake Victoria. Spend the day on a boat riding at the lake or visit some interesting sites including Green Garden Restaurant, Kisumu Main Market, Tom Mboya’s Mausoleum and Thimlich Ohinga Archaeological Site.
