Sweetwaters Game Reserve and Chimp Sanctuary is also known as the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The Conservancy is only a 3 hours drive from Nairobi and welcomes day and overnight visitors.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000-acre private wildlife conservancy situated on the equator, in Kenya’s Laikipia District, between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya.

The Conservancy’s main gate is 14 kilometers from the equator turn off, just before Nanyuki town.

The Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the Big Five (the endangered black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion), Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah and chimpanzee.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive To Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary 2 Days 1 Night Safari departs from Nairobi and proceeds north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to arrive in time for lunch at your lodge/ camp.

After lunch we relax before setting out on an afternoon game-drive in Conservancy which is East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and holds some of the highest predator densities in Kenya.

Extra activities such as game walks, night game drives, horseback, Guided Bush Walks, Lion Tracking, Bird Watching, Game Viewing from Blinds, game rides and meals in the bush and Camel Rides are available upon request.

Today after breakfast we lock eyes with a chimpanzee, visit three of world’s last remaining five northern white rhinos and watch a wild pride of lions roaming the African plains.

With the snowy peaks of Mt. Kenya as your backdrop, your safari game drive largest black rhino sanctuary is sure to be as beautiful as it is diverse.

Find yourself and the Big Five as you explore 90,000 acres of pure wild with an experienced guide who will share his expert knowledge with you.

Venture out there for close encounters with elephants, wild dog, lion, hyena, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, and all the plains herbivores.

0630 Hours: An early morning game drive in the Conservancy. Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the closest place from Nairobi to see the Big Five – lion, African elephant, African Buffalo, leopard and the rhinoceros (either the black rhinoceros or the white rhinoceros).

The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

0930 Hours: Breakfast at the camp or lodge, then depart by road for Nairobi arriving early evening.
