Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy is approximately 260 Kilometers from Nairobi. The drive takes you from Nairobi to Karatina – Kiganjo – Nanyuki – Subuiga from where the gate of Lewa is 2 kilometers down Isiolo Road.

There are approximately 22 resident Lions on Lewa, hyenas, Leopards, Wild Dog, Cheetahs, over 300 Elephants, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra and the spectacular aquatic antelope.

Bird life on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is prolific, from the impressive Ostrich to the soaring Falcons to the humble sun birds you will see some of the most hidden gems on you safari

4 DAY KENYA ROAD SAFARI LEWA DOWNS WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY ITINERARY

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive To Lewa Downs Conservancy

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive northwards to Lewa Downs Conservancy where elephants roam alongside graceful reticulated giraffe, giant eland, all the big cats, and one of the world’s last great population of black rhino.

After lunch at the camp we enjoy an afternoon game drive. The conservancy is home to the Big Five, both Black Rhino & White Rhino and Sitatunga.

The park is one of Kenya’s last remaining habitats, Grevy Zebra: 25% of the worlds remaining population & Greater Kudu. And for the bird lover’s, there are 440 species of bird that have been recorded here.

There are several lodges within the Conservancy.  You also have an opportunity to enjoy a Night game drive tonight.

Day 2 & Day 3: Full Day In Lewa Downs Conservancy

Today we spend our day in Lewa exploring the conservancy on day and night game drives.

Alternatively we can choose to do the following; go on foot with a professional tracker, jog with a Masai warrior, sitting in a blind with a thermos of hot coffee and a good book, or go on horseback riding.

Other activities include a tour to Lewa’s community weaving and furniture workshops, tour to the organic garden producing the lodge’s fruits and vegetables.

One can also play tennis, explore the nearby ancient archaeological site, swim in the pool or simply relax on the terrace with a pair of binoculars spotting the “Big Five” from your lounge chair.

0630 Hours: Early morning tea/ coffee followed by a morning game drive in Lewa. Return back to the camp for breakfast.

Other activities include Game viewing from the blinds, Visits to the cultural village, Visit the archaeological site or Fly fishing (weather/ time permitting).

1400 Hours: After lunch return back to Nairobi by road arriving in the evening.
