Mabira Forest the largest tropical forest in Uganda is a moist semi-deciduous forest famous for walking and cycling trails.

The forest is a home to over 100 species of large moths, butterfly fauna, 300 species of birds such as blue swallow, papyrus gonolek and the nahan francoline, the purple throated cuckoo etc.

There after we will visit Jinja town which is well endowed with historical resources which include the Source of the Nile, the Bujagali Falls, and old Styled Indian buildings among others.

White water rafting at the 5 grade rapids of the Nile is another exciting experience you can reward yourself while on a safari to Jinja.

2 DAY JINJA TOUR BUJAGALI FALLS RIVER NILE MABIRA FOREST ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala – Drive To Ssezibwa Falls – Mabira Forest – Jinja Uganda

0730 Hours: After your breakfast at your hotel, depart by road driving east along the Jinja – Kampala road. The scenic drive takes you through banana, sugar and tea plantations, road side markets, trading centers and local villages.

Our day’s adventure includes a brief stop at the Ssezibwa Falls – a Buganda Kingdom cultural site. The spectacular falls originate from two rivers that flow from Mabira forest.

A local guide at the site offers an insight of the Buganda culture. Thereafter, continue with our journey to Jinja making a second stop at Mabira Forest. The main activities in the Mabira forest are bird watching and nature walks.

We take a walk in the forest. The natural Habitat forest boasts of more than 312 species of trees. It is also home to 315 species of birds.

Other unique features to see in the forest reserve include 218 butterfly species, 97 moths species, 23 small mammal species especially primate species of monkey clan and the spectacular Griffin falls.

1300 Hours: Lunch break in Jinja town. Jinja is Uganda’s second biggest town after Kampala. It is where we find the source of the mighty Nile River, Bujagali falls and many industries.

Jinja is located on the Northern shore of Lake Victoria above Ripon falls near Owen falls dam.

1400 Hours: After lunch, proceed to the source of the River Nile for a boat ride and to see where the Nile starts it’s approximately 6000 kms journey to Mediterranean Sea in Egypt.

We also visit the Speke Monument where John Speke stood and declared the discovery of the Source to the Nile River.

1800 Hours: After a full day of activity we transfer to our accommodations in Jinja.

Day 2: White Water Rafting – Drive To Kampala

After breakfast, go for a full day adventure of white water rafting. Enjoy the most thrilling white water rafting at different grade stages in the morning.

The white water rafting begins with a comprehensive briefing and the fitting of life jackets and helmets. The rafting is done on an 18 kilometer stretch of the Nile River.

The first few rapids are low grade (1, 2) and give you a sense of confidence. As the river meanders through beautiful scenery, the rafts are guided into the mighty challenges of the best “grade 5” rapids on the Nile.

Eight major rapids are rafted plus lower graded runs to maximize the adrenaline rush of this adventure. In the afternoon after lunch we return to Kampala reaching in the evening in time for dinner.
