2 Days 1 Night Entebbe Tour Uganda from Kampala is an exciting 2 daytrip to Entebbe located 45 minutes drive from Kampala city centre.  Entebbe is a colonial town situated at the shores of Lake Victoria.

The town has Indian style buildings with nearby attractions such as Zika forest, Uganda Wildlife Education Center, Entebbe Botanical Gardens, Mabamba swamp and the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

2 DAYS 1 NIGHT ENTEBBE TOUR UGANDA ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala – Drive To Entebbe

0800 Hours: Breakfast at your hotel in Kampala followed by a pick up by our driver to Entebbe. Entebbe is a lovely, quaint city about 40 kilometers outside of Kampala.

Our first stop is at Zika forest situated along Entebbe road (25 km’s away from Kampala city). Here we enjoy bird watching and a canopy walk. The forest has over 140 types of woody plants, butterflies, leopards, snakes and colobus monkeys amongst others.

Later we proceed to Uganda Wildlife Education Center [UWEC] formerly referred to as Entebbe Zoo where over 50 different animal species are represented by over 200 animals.

They are all housed in large, open air enclosures, simulating their natural habitat in the wild, with interpretations about each animals’ biography, biological and social information.

The centre is a bird watchers’ paradise where one can watch over 250 bird species and for photographers, an excellent close-up photo opportunity for wildlife in an environment very similar to the wild.

We proceed to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens which offers a superb introduction to Ugandan birds. Key Birds of the gardens are orange tufted and red chested Sun birds and orange weaver.

On the lake and around the shore looks for long tailed Cormorant , Common Squacco and black-headed herons, hamerkop ,African Open-billed Stork , yellow billed duck etc.

There is a small ruminate patch of rain forest where Guereza Colobus and vervet monkeys can be observed. Please note that you may need binoculars, an ornithology book for better identification of Uganda birds.

1300 Hours: Lunch is at the Entebbe Imperial Botanical Beach hotel followed by relaxation

1500 Hours: Later we head to Mabamba Swamp Wetlands on the outskirts of Lake Victoria. Here you will see various species of birds including Shoebill Stork, African Jacana, Purple Heron, Black Kite, African Fish Eagle, Pied and Malachite Kingfisher among others.

Wooden motorized boats are used to ride through the waterways to access different areas of the swamps while looking for the Shoebill, other water birds and also enjoy the panorama of the wetland outlay.

1800 Hours: Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Entebbe – Ngamba Island – Entebbe – Kampala

0800 Hours: We enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Entebbe the proceed for our 1 Day Ngamba Island chimpanzee tour which takes you to the only chimpanzee Island (Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary) situated on lake Victoria.

Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is surrounded by the fresh waters of Lake Victoria and is home to 49 chimpanzees with 20 male and 29 female chimpanzees.

Amongst these, 46 are orphaned chimps and the other 3 were luckily born on this Island.

Once we get to Lake Victoria, we shall board a speed boat which will take us approximately 45 minutes of travel on water to land on the Ngamba Island.

Once on the Island, you will be taken to the visitors’ centre where you will be introduced to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, its history and be briefed about the different activities available.

After the 1100 Hours chimp feeding, you will be taken through the different centres at the Island eg the chimp food store. The chimp care-giver explains how to store the chimp food and the types of food given to the chimpanzees.

The chimps feed on fruits like pineapples, oranges, tomatoes, apples, water melons, passion fruits, jack fruits, carrots, cabbage, cassava etc. which may not be enough from their searches in the forest.

You will also be taken at the Chimp clinic, and be taken through how to care for the chimps, types of treatment offered and their general health status.

In the afternoon you will participate in the food preparation activity as one of the behind the scenes activities under the guidance of a caregiver.

Later in the afternoon you will catch your return boat at 1600 Hours

Our driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
