3 Days 2 Nights Mgahinga National Park Uganda Road Safari courtesy of Kampala 3 Day Safaris is a short gorilla trekking vacation from Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park located 540 km’s away (an 8-hour drive going through Kabale).

The Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (MGNP) is in the Kisoro District of far south-western Uganda. The Park is about 8 to 10 hours drive from Kampala, Uganda and about 6 hours drive from Kigali, Rwanda.

Gorilla Tracking is the most thrilling tourist activity in the 3 Days 2 Nights Mgahinga National Park Uganda Road Safari. The habituated gorilla in this park is called the Nyakagezi, which consists of 9 members, 2 silverbacks, 3 adult females, 2 juveniles and 2 infants.

It is an intensive experience that can last a day long. The tour guide leads you through the gorilla’s world, explaining comprehensively ecological and behavioral aspects of the gorillas.

Whereas chances are high that you will the gorillas, this is not guaranteed. Gorillas by nature are wild creatures with no fixed routine and finding them requires the skill and experience of your trackers and guides as well as luck by your side on that day.

The trackers and guides have helped to habituate the gorilla groups and know them intimately. They will take you to the area where they left the gorillas the day before.

Before leaving they may be able to suggest how long the hike might be. While walking, please feel free to ask guides to slow down if they are going too fast and if you need a rest.

Feel free to stop and look at birds or flowers, the guide will ensure that you don’t get left behind.

The exercise can be tiresome, so better you are fit physically and please wear shoes with good traction ideal for steep muddy slopes and when taking photos dim and flash lights are not allowed since these animals are black in color.

Besides Gorillas Mgahinga Gorilla National Park has about 39 mammal and 79 bird species. Animals like forest elephants, leopards, buffalos, warthogs/ bush pig are rarely seen at the park. jackals, serval, duikers and bushbucks

Birdlife in the park is also quite impressive with recorded species of species about 178 – 184. Notable bird species include the Rwenzori turaco, crowned hornbill, black kite and crowned crane.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive To Mgahinga National Park

0700 Hours: Our professional safari driver guide will pick you from your hotel after breakfast and depart by road driving to the south-western part of Uganda via Kibale town.

Time permitting you may have a break at the Equator for photography. The scenic journey will take you past Lake Mburo where you may have a chance of seeing zebras grazing and incredible long horned cattle alongside the road.

Our lunch break will be at Mbarara town then proceed to Kabale, Kisoro and finally reach the Park in the evening. Check-in into your preferred lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Mgahinga National Park (Gorilla Tracking)

0645 Hours: Breakfast at your hotel/ lodge foloowed bt a transfer to Ntebeko.

0745 Hours: Registration and briefing for gorilla tracking in Mgahinga National Park commences at Ntebeko

0830 Hours: Tracking starts and can take 3 to 8 hours. The tracking takes a while as searching for these great apes is like going for fishing.

It’s recommended to pack a light lunch and water. Some levels of fitness are necessary in order to do the walking through the thick jungle and thick forest. Gorillas will be heard grumbling to each other in thick forest.

It is such the most breathtaking wildlife experience on earth. Other primates can also be seen include golden monkey, black and white colobus monkey.

1300 Hours: Later you will return back to the lodge in time for lunch followed by some rest time. In the afternoon you may opt to for guided walk and visit the Garama cave which is 342 metre long and 14 deep.

It’s one of the caves where the Batwa lived and fought their neighbors the Bantu although it’s now inhabited by bats.

Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Mgahinga National Park  – Drive To Kampala

0800 Hours: After a leisure breakfast depart by road back to Kampala/ Entebbe making a stop at Mbarara Hotel for lunch.

A remarkable highlight of this journey is crossing the Equator line. Here you will have some photo opportunities as well as buy souvenirs to commemorate your Uganda safari.

Arrive in Kampala in the evening.
